From Aliza Shevrin’s Remembrance of Howard Shevrin

I am happy to reflect, and I am also sad to reflect, upon the career of my late husband, because I know that at this moment, he would love to be present at scientific gatherings, and/or to hear about those people writing about his endeavors. Because that was really one of his main wishes and hopes: to see that there are students, researchers, scientists, – who will carry on his work.

I am calling my husband Howie. His name was Howard, but everybody knew him as Howie. My husband was truly a renaissance man, a man of and for all seasons – a rather brilliant guy, a very busy guy: devoted to his work, to his large family, to his colleagues and friends, – and I was lucky to be a part of that. Howie was a man who truly loved his life, his work, his research, and the people he worked with. He loved his students, his patients, and most all of those with whom he came in touch on a regular basis.
