The thing I remember most about that day was how muggy it was a hazy 90 degree Day Labor day weekend. Labor day Sunday. My father and I drove to my high school and we met Rick and his dad Irwin, who also came to watch us play. Rick against me, finals of 13 and under tennis, City of New Rochelle championships. The thing was, we were best friends. Went all the way back to second grade. Used to play Ping Pong against each other for rulership of the solar system. We 8 year olds had some powerful ambition.
